Privacy Policy
Summary
- Homework Hub has no server, no database, and no user accounts. It is a static web page that runs entirely in the student's browser.
- With the student's permission, it reads one Google Calendar that the student chooses (their Toddle calendar). It cannot write, change, or delete anything.
- Assignment data goes directly from Google to the student's browser and is saved only on that device. The operator never receives it.
- No analytics, advertising, tracking, data sales, or AI training.
1.Who we are
Homework Hub ("Homework Hub", "we", "us") is an independent, non-commercial student project operated by [OPERATOR NAME]. It helps students see the assignments and due dates their teachers post in Toddle, in a simple dashboard layout.
Homework Hub is not operated by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Riverdale Country School or Toddle. Those names are used only to describe the services Homework Hub works with.
2.Data we access
When a student signs in with Google
Google shows a consent screen asking the student to grant Homework Hub a single permission: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly (view calendars). With it, Homework Hub:
- reads the list of calendar names once, so the student can pick their Toddle calendar; and
- reads the events in that one selected calendar: title, date and time, location, and description.
Events in any other calendar are never requested. Homework Hub does not request the student's email, contacts, Drive, Gmail, or any other Google data.
When a student uploads a calendar file instead
The Toddle calendar file (.ics) is opened by the student's browser and is never uploaded anywhere.
3.Data at a glance
| Information | Accessed? | Where it's kept | Sent to the operator? | Shared or sold? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Events in the chosen Toddle calendar | Yes, read-only | Student's own browser (local storage) | No | No |
| Names of the student's calendars | Yes, read-only, to pick one | Not saved, except the ID of the chosen calendar | No | No |
| Which assignments the student checks off | Yes | Student's own browser | No | No |
| Events in any other calendar | No | n/a | No | No |
| Name, email, grades, contacts, files, messages | No | n/a | No | No |
| Google sign-in token | Yes, temporarily | Browser memory only; expires within 1 hour, never written to storage | No | No |
4.How data is used
Calendar data is used for one purpose only: to display the student's own assignments and due dates back to that same student, on that same device. It is not combined with any other data, profiled, or used for any other purpose.
5.What we never do
- Collect, store, or have access to student data on any server.
- Use analytics, tracking pixels, advertising, or fingerprinting.
- Sell, rent, trade, or share any information with anyone.
- Use any data to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
- Set our own cookies.
- Contact students or send them marketing.
6.Google API Services: Limited Use disclosure
In practice: Google user data is used only to provide the dashboard the student sees; it is not transferred to any third party; it is not used for advertising; and no human reads it.
7.Security
- Read-only access. The only permission requested cannot modify a student's calendar or account.
- No central data store. Because nothing is collected on a server, there is no database that could be breached.
- Encrypted connections. The site is served only over HTTPS, and all requests to Google use HTTPS.
- Short-lived tokens. Google sign-in tokens live only in browser memory and expire within one hour. They are never saved.
- Standard Google sign-in. Sign-in uses Google's official Identity Services library. Homework Hub never sees or handles passwords.
- Open to review. The full source code is a single readable web page and is available on request for review by any school.
8.Retention and deletion
Data stays on the student's device until the student removes it. To delete everything:
- Click Sign out on Homework Hub. This erases the saved assignments from that browser and revokes Homework Hub's Google access.
- Or clear the browser's site data for Homework Hub.
- Access can also be removed at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Because we hold no student data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. Questions about this are welcome at the contact below.
9.Students and families
Homework Hub is designed for middle- and upper-school students. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Students under 13 should use Homework Hub only with a parent's or guardian's permission. Parents and guardians may contact us at any time with questions, and can remove access using the steps in section 8.
10.Information for schools
- Homework Hub does not receive, maintain, or have access to student education records or personally identifiable student information, as those terms are used in FERPA and New York Education Law §2-d.
- Data shown comes only from the calendar feed that Toddle itself provides to students for use in outside calendar apps.
- School administrators can review the Google permission requested, and can allow or block Homework Hub for school-managed Google accounts in the Google Workspace Admin console.
- We are glad to answer questions from a school's technology or privacy staff and to provide the source code for review.
11.Third-party services
- Google provides sign-in and the Calendar API, under the Google Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare hosts the website. Like any web host, it may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Calendar data never passes through Cloudflare.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces used on these pages.
12.Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version here and update the dates and version number above. If a change affects how student information is handled, a notice will appear on Homework Hub before the change takes effect.
